Keiko Yanagusawa,
another female biologist, introduces readers to the profundity
of the biological world slowly and plainly by
her book “ISIKI NO SHINKA TO DNA (Evolution of
the consciousness and the DNA)” in which she takes a fictional
conversational style of a man and a women. Now back to the 1950's. Erwin Schrodinger's first
edition of “WHAT IS LIFE?” was published in 1951
in Japan. This is a notable book whose copies have been continuously printed since then. Schrodinger(a
Novel Prize-winning Physicist), a scholar of quantum mechanics,
uses colloquial expressions to make us better
understand the high level contents. He suggests
in his book that the cryptogram of the gene, like the morse code,
should be able to transmit almost unlimited information
by combination of a few atoms. His small book
significantly influenced biologists at that time. Among them
were Watson and Crick who discovered the double
helix of the DNA, consisting of 4 bases in 1953,
7 years after publication of the book. It is an important discovery
of the century. So,they won the Novel Prize in
1962. As you can see, the science world excites
our interest to a great extent. What interests
me is a truth like a lie rather than a lie like a truth.
